Super Rods returned to Darlington’s Mid Western Speedway last Saturday night of a non point score round. With Michael Coad greeting the flag first to claim his maiden final win.
A number of cars being driven by pit crew members with Paul O’Shannassy’s car being driven by his brother Shane, Peter Gale behind of the Jack Gale 43 car, David Cook in the 47 car normally piloted by Matt Clark, Dale Walsh’s car was driven by Brendan Drewry, Chris Mitchell in the Shaun Toulmin car, and the Ewan McKenzie car shared between crew members James McKenzie and Daniel Cummings. Also joining this group were Robert Richardson, Michael Coad and Mat O’Shannassy.
The first heat was taken out by Coad, from Cook with Shane O’Shannassy home in third. David Cook won the second heat from Richardson and Coad. The victor in the third heat was Mat O’Shannassy taking his maiden heat win with Richardson and Coad again taking out the minor positions.
A delighted Coad was able to make win his first final with Shane O’Shannassy home in second and David Cook third.
The Super Rods will now have a few weeks off before making the annual pilgrimage to Swan Hill’s Sonic Speedway for the season Finale on Sunday the 10th of June on the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend.
