Saturday 3rd of July saw the Super Rod’s hold their Annual Presentation dinner at Old Collegian’s Football Club, with 100 people in attendance. Winchelsea’s Geoff Leigh took home the top honours on the night claiming the Associations Aggregate point score.

Leigh capped of a stellar season after having strong performances throughout the season claiming sixteen heat wins over the course of the season, along with taking home six feature wins and two second places in features. Leigh secured the win with 1455 points ahead of Moolap’s Shaun Toulmin on 1112 points and Cobden’s Matt Clark on 953 points. A delighted Leigh thanked his sponsors and exclaimed he was looking forward to what is set to be another great season. In taking the Aggregate win Leigh put his name the Verhoeven Family Perpetual Trophy alongside the likes of Frank Grist, Darryl Nelson and Leigh Podger.

This season’s Rookie of the year award went to Grassmere teenager Jemma Gale, who was able to outscore other rookies Cameron Hardwick, Tim Rankin, Tom Duynhoven and Amy Duynhoven.
Damien Falkingham accepted the Encouragement award, while the Associations Most Improved driver award went to Dale Walsh who showed consistent improvement throughout the season.

Peter Gale accepted the award for the Unluckiest Driver on behalf of the Gale Motorsport team, although Peter had not actually been behind the wheel this season after having had a back operation, they had endured a number of rollovers and other crashes. Super Rod Association President Jason Grayland presented the President’s award to Ena Verhoeven for her work in assisting him with the running of the Associtation.
